TAX APPEAL TRIBUNAL. The Nigerian Government, has by the provisions of Section 59 of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act (No. 13) 2007 (“FIRSEA”) abolished the Valued Added Tax Tribunal and the Body of Tax Appeal Commissioners. In their place, the Tax Appeal Tribunal is created to settle all tax disputes arising from the provisions and operations of the FIRSEA; namely, the Companies Income Tax Act, Personal Income Tax Act, Petroleum Profits Tax Act, Value Added Tax Act, Capital Gains Tax Act, Stamp Duties Tax Act, Taxes & Levies (Approved List of Collection) Act, taxes and levies for the Federal Capital Territory, etc.
